Anthony Albanese has had his first slip up of the campaign — literally.
The Prime Minister stumbled off the stage at a Mining and Energy Union conference in the Hunter Valley.
Mr Albanese was attempting to pose for a group photo when he had the stack — prompting gasps from the audience.
He smiled as he was quickly helped to his feet by delegates — but not before the footage was captured by travelling media.
The stumble was not serious and the Prime Minister was not injured.
Talking to ABC Newcastle radio after the incident, Mr Albanese rejected that he fell.
“I stepped back one step. I didn’t fall off the stage … Just one leg went down, but I was sweet.”
It was an eventful day on the hustings with an earlier event interrupted by hecklers.
