Federal election live: Jim Chalmers, Angus Taylor face-off on housing as Libs launch anti-Albo rap

Competing housing and tax policies have dominated Angus Taylor and Jim Chalmers’ second debate as the pair faced-off on ABC’s 7.30 program on Monday night.
It comes after their first face-off on the Sky News Treasurers’ Debate last week.
Both sides argued their housing policies were better and not inflationary despite leading economists blasting the spendathon that saw Labor announce $10bn for 100,000 new homes, 5 per cent deposits for first home buyers and a $1000 tax write off for workers and the Coalition pledge tax-deductible mortgage repayments and a $1200 tax cut for lower and middle income earners.
The Liberal Party has finally embraced its core constituency – fans of modern American hip-hop. Listen to their anti-Albo rap smash below, if you’re brave enough.
Meanwhile, Anthony Albanese won’t say if Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek will remain in her portfolio if Labor is re-elected, but insisted the two are “mates” after the awkward hug snub that overshadowed Labor’s campaign launch in Perth.
And brace yourself for three more leaders’ debates – because apparently the Labor and Liberal spin doctors are convinced the path to victory lies in giving their scintillating leaders even more exposure. What, endless campaign photo ops at petrol stations and constructions sites aren’t enough any more?
