It’s official – Labor will return to majority government after winning at least 76 seats. Follow all the results as they come in.

Anthony Albanese wins Australian election

Welcome to our live coverage of the 2025 federal election results.

Anthony Albanese has become the first Prime Minister to win re-election since 2004 after more than 18 million Australians cast their ballot today.

Labor’s lead is increasing, crushing opposition leader Peter Dutton’s hopes to pull off a last-minute upset.

See tonight’s results below, with counting and live updates to resume Sunday morning.

There are 150 House of Representatives seats up for grabs this year. The Coalition needs a net gain of 18 seats to govern in its own right. If Labor suffers a net loss of four seats it will lose its majority.

Polls going into election day showed Australia might be heading towards a hung parliament and the prospect of a minority government.
