CCTV captures man being bashed 3-on-1 at Sydney service station

The group slammed the man up against a wall, smashed milk crates over his head, threw punches and and stomped on him.

Shocking CCTV footage has shown the moment a man was ambushed and assaulted by a group of men at a petrol station in Sydney’s southwest.

The incident occurred around 9pm on May 15 at Belmore Metro Service Station and Car Wash.

The surveillance video, provided to news.com.au, captures them both the lead-up and sudden escalation of the violent encounter.

In the footage, a man dressed in a white top, black puffer jacket and black tracksuit pants can be seen speaking calmly to another man wearing shorts inside the service station.

The two appear familiar with one another, even sharing a handshake.

But what began as a lighthearted exchange quickly took a dark turn. Moments later, the man in the white top is seen stepping outside in an agitated manner after copping a jab from the man in the black puffer.

They confront each other in a yelling match inches from each other’s faces, but poor audio quality makes it impossible to discern exactly what was said.

Further footage taken from a second camera angle outside showed the situation escalating rapidly once two more men arrived. They began assaulting the first man up against a wall, smashing milk crates over his head, throwing punches and stomping.

The group proceeds to strike the victim repeatedly before leaving him in a heap on the ground.

The motive behind the assault is unclear, and it’s not known whether the parties involved knew each other beyond the brief exchange inside the store.

It all went south very quickly.

NSW Police confirmed the man who was attacked was a 37-year-old male but could not provide further details.

“About 9pm on Thursday 15 May 2025, a 37-year-old man attended a carwash at a service station on Canterbury Road, Belmore,” a statement provided to news.com.au read.

“While there he was approached in the store by an unknown man, and the pair had a verbal argument.

“The unknown man left before returning a short time later, with two other unknown males and they approached the 37-year-old man before seriously assaulting him.

“Officers from Campsie Police Area Command attended; however, all involved parties had left.

“Following inquiries, police attended a hospital and spoke to the 37-year-old man who was being treated for facial injuries and a fractured arm. He has since been discharged.

“Detectives have commenced an investigation and as inquiries continue, police are seeking to identify the three men, all described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance and aged in their 30s.

“The first man is about 178cm tall, with short black hair and a beard and wearing a red ‘Under Armour’ hooded jumper, black track pants, and yellow sneakers.

“The second is about 185cm tall, with short black hair and wearing a white t-shirt, black pants with white stripes down the leg, and white sneakers.

“The third man is about 185cm tall, with short black hair, and wearing a black long sleeve ‘Nike’ t-shirt, black pants with white stripes down the leg and black sneakers.”
