MEMBER for Toowoomba North Trevor Watts has issued a stern warning to Toowoomba residents to stay at home today, despite the Toowoomba Show holiday going ahead.
Mr Watts said too many people were not heeding the warnings about social distancing.
"COVID-19 is not a joke," Mr Watts said.
"This is the most serious and imminent danger we've faced as a community in living memory.
"If we don't do enough to stop the spread of coronavirus, people will die, and some of those people will be from our community.
"All levels of government are working together to stop the spread of COVID-19."
Mr Watts said Australians had been given clear advice.
"So if you're thinking about going out tomorrow - don't," he said.
"Don't have gatherings at your house; don't go to someone else's house to socialise.
"Right now, keeping away from your friends and family is the best thing you can do."
