Townsville’s fans of ramen noodles are in for a treat next weekend when Japanese kitchen Motto Motto celebrates its opening at Fairfield Central by selling 500 serves of its classic dish for just $1.
Tongues were sent wagging and mouths began watering when it was revealed in April that William Liu, owner of Australia’s most awarded Japanese restaurant Sono, would open one of his made-to-order premium-casual restaurants Motto Motto in Townsville, as its first regional outpost.
Featuring a mix of traditional and modern Japanese or Japanese-inspired dishes, Motto Motto’s fast, casual dining approach was expected to captivate NQ foodies with its blend innovation and fine dining ingredients.
The business scheduled a soft opening date for Tuesday, July 2, allowing a few days of fine tuning before an expected stampede of diners arrived on Saturday, July 6 for the $1 signature classic ramen celebration, which kicks off from 11am.
Motto Motto Fairfield Central owner operators Leonor and Mario Canapi were excited to bring Motto Motto to the city.
“As locals, we understand the importance of investing in our community, and becoming the owner-operators of your new Japanese local is a dream for us,” they said.
“The $1 ramen day is our way of sharing our favourite food with as many of you as possible and saying thank you for your support.
“We can’t wait to see everyone enjoying their ramen and being part of this exciting journey with us.”
Designed by Executive Chef Ryuji Tomihara, their popular tonkotsu ramen features their signature tonkotsu (pork) broth, shoyu kaeshi, freshly made noodles, marinated free-range soft boiled egg, fresh shallots and seaweed.
Overwhelmed by the positive feedback and support from the community, Motto Motto chief operating officer Matt Fickling said it was an exciting milestone to open their first regional location.
“By franchising and employing 25 local team members, we are deeply committed to investing in Townsville and North Queensland. Training these locals to deliver the exceptional Motto Motto experience reflects our dedication to quality and community support,” Mr Fickling said.
“Everyone is excited about having a new dining option that offers unique and delicious Japanese dishes in a premium-casual setting.
“We’re thrilled to be part of this vibrant community and look forward to serving our new locals … and seeing our new team thrive.”
Motto Motto is also offering diners the chance to win a year’s supply of free ramen when they sign up as a MyMotto Member and select Fairfield Central.
The lucky winner will be drawn on August 1.
