A model who was found dead inside a popular Sydney brewery last week became “unrecognisable” following a serious car crash, friends have revealed.
Newtown woman Savana Calvo, 27, took her own life last Wednesday after receiving “death threats” in the weeks leading up to her death.
Police have referred the matter to the NSW coroner who is set to investigate the threats and the circumstances which led to her death.
Her body was found at 11.30pm, four and a half hours after the brewery closed at 7pm.
Police have said her death is not suspicious.
Ms Calvo’s parents Daniel and Tatjana told media this week their daughter had “a lot of things going on behind the scenes” in recent times and had been caught up with some “dodgy” people.
It has now been revealed Ms Calvo also suffered severe injuries after a car crash which left her walking with a cane, Daily Mail Australia revealed.
Her ex-boyfriend record shop owner Lorenz Prichard wrote about the collision on Instagram at the time. Ms Calvo was a passenger in his Subaru Forester.
“Life is precious and fleeting. Everything could be gone in a second, so don’t waste your time or energy,” he wrote alongside a photo of the damage to his car.
“Live life to the fullest, be safe and kind to each other.”
Mr Prichard said during the crash he was T-boned at a major intersection by a car running a red light.
“I then lost control, mounted the curb and wound up in the corner of a brick wall! There were some major injuries incurred by myself, my passenger and a pedestrian, but everyone involved is recovering well.. It could of been [a lot] worse,” he wrote.
A GoFundMe has also been set up by her father to raise funds for her funeral.
“As we come to terms with Savana’s passing, we are faced with the difficult task of arranging her final farewell,” her father wrote on the fundraiser page.
“We want to give her the dignified and heartfelt send-off she deserves, but unfortunately, the financial burden of funeral expenses and surrounding costs are overwhelming for Savana’s family during this already challenging time.”
It has raised more than $31,000.
On the campaign page, Mr Calvo also wrote how Ms Calvo was going through “some trying times” in the lead up to her death.
“She was a cherished daughter, sister and friend who brought so much love and light into all of our lives,” he said.
“She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.”
Young Henrys was closed to the public on Thursday as police investigated the scene.
There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing by Young Henrys.
Days after her death, a graffiti message reading “Savana we love you” appeared just metres from the brewery.
