Australian model and actor Erin McNaught has taken to social media to share a heartbreaking glimpse into her nine-month-old baby’s brain tumour diagnosis following a recent surgery.

Australian model and actor Erin McNaught has shared a heartbreaking update on her nine-month-old son Obi’s recovery from brain surgery, after he was diagnosed with a large brain tumour.

Ms McNaught, who shares Obi with music producer husband Stasi Kotaras, took to her Instagram on Monday night to share a raw insight into the moments surrounding Obi’s diagnosis and the surgery.

“It’s one month today since Obi had surgery to remove a massive brain tumour that he was only diagnosed with a few days prior,” she wrote.

“Stas and I woke early, and while he went to the hospital, I stayed for a little while longer, trying to deal with what was about to happen.

“I stood on the balcony and watched the sunrise and sobbed so hard I couldn’t breathe. The thought that this sunrise might be the last one we saw with him still here on this earth was unbearable.

“When he made it through the surgery, we returned to the balcony and watched the sunset and we cried again together.”

Ms McNaught further shared that Obi has been recovering well since the surgery “blowing them away” with his progress.

“We still don’t know what his future holds, but then again no one ever does,” she wrote.

“For now we are filled with joy, and happiness, and a deep sense of gratitude. We hold him close, and we hold our big boys, and we marvel at our little family, and how lucky we are. And we love each other the hardest.”

She also shared a touching video of footage and photos from Obi’s time in hospital, which included a clip of the baby recovering well, smiling and playing.

The couple, who welcomed baby Obi into the world in October 2024, first shared the devastating diagnosis with their followers last month, saying they had taken Obi to hospital after noticing his “behaviour and happiness” disappear, as well as having problems with eating, sleeping and even keeping his head straight.

“Late on Tuesday, as a precaution we took our little man in for an MRI under instruction from our Doctor,” they posted at the time.

“At about 6:00pm Tuesday night we met with a neurosurgeon who broke the heartbreaking news that Obi has a large brain tumour on the right side of his brain.”

“We are absolutely shattered and the last few days have been our hardest days. Our team at the Queensland Children’s Hospital have been incredible and we remain hopeful that we can remove the mass and get Obi healthy and happy, pending the results.

“We have a long and difficult road ahead us but are so lucky to have our family and friends’ support at this time and we’re keeping focused on getting our little boy back.”
