A married teacher from the US faces up to 50 years behind bars after pleading guilty to having sex with her 14-year-old student over the school year at his home, where “her DNA was recovered from his bed linens.”
Megan Pauline Jordan, 25, who taught at Hungary Creek Middle School in Virginia, pleaded guilty to four counts of carnal knowledge and one count of indecent liberties of a minor, which are all felonies, according to WRIC.
“During the 2022-23 school year, Ms. Jordan was having sexual relations with her 14-year-old student,” Henrico County Commonwealth’s Attorney Shannon Taylor announced Tuesday, the Richmond Times-Dispatch said.
“On several occasions, Ms. Jordan would go to the victim’s house and have sexual intercourse with the student. Her DNA was recovered from his bed linens,” Taylor added.
Jordan, who was arrested in June 2023, was initially charged with five counts of carnal knowledge of a minor and two counts of indecent liberties with a minor, reports the New York Post.
She continues to be held without bond and faces 50 years in prison when sentenced on May 20, Taylor said.
The school district called Jordan’s arrest “an extremely serious and upsetting situation” in an email to parents last year.
“We have communicated with families at the school and will continue to support our school community in any way needed,” it said in the message.
One person claimed on social media that Jordan was his teacher.
“I knew there was something wrong with her and the student’s relationship. The student wouldn’t do any of the work and she wouldn’t bat an eye,” the user wrote.
“I noticed subtle flirting and teasing, the tension between them was insane. She deserves a life sentence for grooming this poor kid,” the alleged former student added.
Taylor cited “the brave action of those who brought this matter to the attention of Henrico Police Division. We are always asking people if they see something unusual, or not quite right, to say something.”
“Because of their efforts, this predator is off the streets, out of our schools, and will be held accountable for her actions,” the commonwealth lawyer added in a statement.
