UPDATE: A man has been killed in a crash involving a truck and car just west of Toowoomba on the Warrego Hwy.
The man, believed to be in his 40s, was the only occupant of the vehicle which collided with the truck about 9.30am.
He died at the scene.
The male truck driver was not injured.
Queensland Fire and Rescue Service Inspector Graham Cooke expressed his disbelief at the region's growing road toll.
A 53-year-old woman was killed in a traffic crash on the Warrego Hwy earlier this month.
At least 26 people have died on the region's roads so far this year.
"We're very disappointed that this has happened again this morning," Insp Cooke said.
"There's been so many on this Warrego Hwy since the start of this year between Toowoomba and Dalby.
"It's certainly very disappointing to once again come to another fatal road vehicle accident."
The crash took place just west of the Warrego Hwy and Gowrie Mountain School Rd intersection, 20km west of Toowoomba.
Police are directing traffic at the scene of the crash.
The highway is expected to be closed for several hours.
Westbound traffic is being diverted down Gowrie Mountain School Road.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the area with closures in place from Zimms Corner to Jannuschs Rd.
