Man hospitalised after alleged assault at Nerang train station
A Gold Coast daughter is pleading with the community for answers as emergency services piece together what happened to her father in a suspected attack.

Police are appealing for information after a man was allegedly assaulted at a Gold Coast train station on Monday.
A post on social media by Ai Zhou relays horrific details of an alleged attack on her father who was waiting to be picked up from Nerang train station on Monday morning.
“My dad was sitting there waiting for the car, and then this young man spoke to my dad in English,” Ms Zhou’s post read.
“My dad replied in Chinese that (he) couldn’t understand and (doesn’t) speak English.
“Then my dad planned to leave, but this young man followed my dad.
“Suddenly, he punched my dad, causing my dad to fall to the ground and bleed.”
Ms Zhou posted photos showing the footpath at the Nerang station bus stop splattered with blood.
Police are investigating the suspected assault at Nerang train station, which took place just after 8.30am on February 17, a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said.
“Police were called around 1.30pm that day to the Gold Coast University Hospital in relation to a man who was being treated there following a suspected assault,” a QPS spokeswoman said.
“Subsequent investigations indicate around 8.40am that morning, the 60-year-old man was sitting at the Nerang train station when he was assaulted by a male, causing him to fall to the ground.”
Paramedics were called to Warrener St near Nerang train station at 8.50am, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said.
The QAS spokesman said the man, believed to be in his 50s, was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition with a facial injury.
A Queensland Rail (QR) spokeswoman confirmed there had been a police incident at the bus shelter near Nerang train station on Monday morning.
She said QR was assisting police with their investigation and had provided CCTV footage.
Ms Zhou said her father had suffered serious complications while in hospital, including requiring a blood transfusion.
Gold Coast University Hospital has not provided a condition update for the man.
