A man has died at the scene of a workplace accident after a lift he was operating struck powerlines on a Western Downs worksite.

A man has died at a Western Downs worksite after a lift he was operating struck powerlines.

The man was operating a lift when it struck powerlines at the worksite on Middle Creek Rd, Roche Creek on Monday.

Paramedics arrived on the scene just after 9am to treat the man who was in a critical condition but he died at the scene.

Police declared the man dead at the scene and are preparing a report for the Coroner.

The death is considered non-suspicious, but Workplace Health and Safety has launched an investigation.

“Workplace Health and Safety Queensland is undertaking an investigation into a fatal incident that occurred at Roche Creek yesterday,” a Workplace Health and Safety Queensland spokesperson said.

“As an investigation is underway, we are unable to provide any further details at this time.”
