Woman arrested in Tennant Creek following alleged high-speed, drink driving pursuit
For two hours, the woman allegedly evaded police at high speed and at high range - with an unrestrained 3-year-old in the backseat.

March 5, 6.45am: A woman has been charged with 13 offences after allegedly drink-driving through Tennant Creek at high speed overnight.
On late Tuesday night, police witnessed a white ford station wagon driving dangerously through town.
Police say officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, however the wagon evaded police and continued to drive at a high speed around town.
Almost two hours later, police observed the vehicle pull over, with a woman exiting the vehicle.
Officers chased the woman on foot before arresting her.
Police then discovered two passengers, including a woman and a 3-year-old girl, in the abandoned vehicle.
The 3-year-old girl, who police allege was unrestrained, has since been placed into the care of a family member and Territory Families have been informed of her situation.
The arrested woman was breathalysed and returned a 0.191 reading - nearly four times the legal limit.
The woman has since been charged with three counts of failing to obey police direction to pull over, two counts of dangerous driving, driving at high range, driving unlicensed, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving an uninsured vehicle, speeding, driving a motor vehicle causing loss of traction, failing to remain in designated traffic lane and driving with an unrestrained child.
She remains in custody.
Two boys arrested over alleged Hermannsburg HiLux theft
March 4, 3.30pm: Two boys alleged to have stolen a car have led police on a “short foot chase” in the Red Centre which has ended with both of their arrests.
NT Police said the boys, aged 12 and 13, were arrested Tuesday afternoon after they allegedly stole a Toyota HiLux from Hermannsburg just after 11am in the morning.
Police said the vehicle was fitted with a tracking device, and a “co-ordinated police response” found the vehicle in on Cora Crescent in Gillen.
The boys fled the car after police found them, they said, but they were apprehended after a “a short foot chase”.
“The 12-year-old will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act (2005), and the 13-year-old is expected to be charged later today,” police said.
Manhunt for pair who threatened, robbed resident
March 4, 6.30am: Police are searching for two men who broke into a home and held a resident at knifepoint in Alice Springs overnight.
Police allege about 7.20pm on Monday, two men unlawfully entered a residence on Standley Crescent, Gillen.
One of the men armed himself with a knife from the kitchen before threatening the 57-year-old occupant, police say.
The men stole an amount of cash and a set of car keys before fleeing on foot.
As at 6.30am Tuesday, police continue to investigate the incident.
Man arrested after alleged stabbing in Alice Springs
March 3, 2:29pm: A man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing his partner in Alice Springs on Monday morning.
Northern Territory Police were called to a disturbance at a Sadadeen residence about 3:50am, where they found a woman with injuries to her upper body.
She was taken to Alice Springs Hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
A 32-year-old man was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with aggravated assault and engaging in conduct that contravenes a domestic violence order.

Police ‘shaken’ after allegedly being driven at by stolen LandCruiser
March 3, 8:54am: Police have been left “quite shaken” after they were allegedly driven at by a LandCruiser Troopcarrier in Tennant Creek.
About 11.20pm on Sunday, police saw a LandCruiser driving dangerously through the town.
Police say a short time later, the same car drove directly at a police car, swerving late and narrowly missing a head on collision.
The same vehicle also drove at another police car and instead T-boned the officers’ vehicle.
Police pursued the LandCruiser, using road spikes to puncture several tyres.
The LandCruiser was last seen driving into bushland.
Initial investigations indicated the LandCruiser had been stolen from a business premises in Tennant Creek, with a 19 and 14-year-old arrested a short time later in town.
The car has not been recovered.
Police say both teenagers are known to police but were not on bail at the time of the alleged offending.
The pair remain in police custody and have not been charged.
A police spokesman said authorities involved in the incident were “quite shaken” but confirmed no injuries had been reported.
