Man killed, elderly couple injured in two-vehicle crash on the New England Highway near Cambooya

A man has been killed and an elderly couple injured in a two-vehicle crash on a major regional highway south of Toowoomba, with police reporting that one of the vehicles was stolen.

A man has been killed and an elderly couple injured in a serious two-vehicle crash south of Toowoomba.

It’s believed the incident occurred about noon along the New England Highway near the intersection of Drayton Connection Rd and Erbacher Road on the New England Highway.

Initial police reports indicate that a Holden Astra and a Volkswagan Amarok were travelling in opposite directions before they collided.

The driver and sole occupant of the Holden, a 26-year-old Warwick man, died at the scene.

The driver of the Volkswagan, a 73-year-old Nobby man, and a passenger, a 70-year-old Nobby woman, were taken to Toowoomba Hospital for assessment.

Police believe that the Holden Astra was stolen from Pittsworth on Saturday, April 12.

Investigations are ongoing.
