A TOOWOOMBA man accused of causing grievous bodily harm to another man punched on a Toowoomba CBD street has been found not guilty.

Lindon Gordon Langton, 23, had pleaded not guilty to the charge arising from the alleged assault of Alexander Muller, 33, who was punched once to the head and fell unconscious to the footpath in an altercation on Margaret St about 2.40am, December 12, 2011.

Langton admitted throwing one punch, but claimed Muller had racially taunted him, spat at him and threw a punch at him.

He told police he didn't hit Muller very hard and claimed he had got up from the footpath after the incident.

Muller sustained bleeding on the brain and spent six days in hospital and had no recollection of the event.
