A MAJOR piece of the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing is halfway done, the company behind one of Queensland's largest infrastructure projects has revealed.
Last week Nexus Infrastructure took to Facebook to announce the construction milestone for the massive viaduct that will carry traffic up the Toowoomba Range.
"Last month we passed the viaduct's construction halfway point and every week takes us closer its completion," a Nexus spokesperson said on Facebook.
"To date 16 of 22 spans are complete, 198 of 242 Super T girders have been installed, as well as all 21 piers and all 21 headstocks."
The Queensland Government is considering what to name the crossing after public submissions closed last month.
The name of the crossing is expected to be unveiled before the middle of next of year.
The road, which will divert motorists around Toowoomba, is expected to be completed and open to cars by the middle of next year.
