Live stream: News Corp live stream of Queensland state age championships cancelled (State Age Championships)
Due to unforseen technical issues, News Corp has regrettably had to cancel the live stream of the Queensland state age championships from the Gold Coast.
UPDATE: News Corp regrets to inform our readers that the Netball Queensland State Age Championships live stream has been cancelled due to unforeseen technical issues.
We apologise to our readers and the broader netball community that we were unable to proceed with plans to live stream the competition’s three days from the Hinterland Netball Association on the Gold Coast and any inconvenience this has caused.
News Corp will continue to work with Netball Queensland on upcoming livestreaming opportunities.
EARLIER: The Sunshine State’s best netball talent will descend on the Gold Coast hinterland courts in a quest to be crowned the best this weekend.
As part of a year-long live stream deal between Netball Queensland and News, The Courier Mail, along with News’ regional Queensland mastheads, have planned to showcase the best emerging talent across several major carnivals in 2022.
More than 2000 players aged 15-17 will compete at the three-day event for netballers aged 15-17, hosted by the Hinterland District Netball Association, Mudgeeraba.

Teams from as far away as Darwin and FNQ will compete at the championships which are expected to be a boon for the local community, with more than 4000 people descending into the region.
“Our year-long deal with Netball Queensland will be an opportunity to showcase the best young talents across the Sunshine State,” News Sport Network managing director Michael Wilkins said.
“The opportunity to broadcast up to five state championships across the year provides a chance to unearth the next crop of future Diamonds.
“It also continues News Corp’s proud coverage of Australia’s netball competitions from the Super Netball to the grassroots.”
Netball Queensland CEO Kate Davies said the deal was a chance to shine a light on the sports pathways in Queensland.
“We have seen the media coverage of netball at the elite level go to new heights this year highlighting our inspiring Suncorp Super Netball teams the Queensland Firebirds and Sunshine Coast Lightning, so it is also deserving for netball at grassroots and community level to be live streamed for everyone to see,” she said.
“Many of our competitions such as Nissan Senior State Age attract thousands of participants and spectators across each day, and now those who can’t get to the games can now watch grassroots netball and see the emerging talent coming through the Queensland pathways.
Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate added: “Securing the state age championships is a huge coup for our city. Netball remains one of the biggest participation sports in Australia and this event will bring 2100 competitors here for three days of thrilling action.’’
Sharon Freeman, Junior and Coaching Coordinator of Darwin Netball Association, said the tournament was a “great stepping stone’’ for players in regional areas, including her own.
“It is a really good opportunity for not only the players but for our coach and umpire as well. Everyone is really excited for this opportunity.
