Tributes have flowed for a Qantaslink pilot whose “sudden and unexpected” death has rocked the airline, as his family remembers him for being “a light in many peoples lives”.

Harrison “Harry” Allchin, a pilot with the regional arm of Qantas, died on October 13.

A GoFundMe set up by a family friend for his family described him as a “light” in the lives of many people who was known for his love of travel, “his mates, family and his job”.

“The gravity of the loss of our mate will be felt throughout the community and beyond,” the fundraiser states.

“The loss of Harry was very sudden and unexpected and his family are now trying to navigate through this process while dealing with their grief.”

It is understood Mr Allchin had worked for Qantaslink since 2018.

The fundraiser has already surpassed $47,000 of its $50,000.

“We are hoping to raise funds so we can give Harry the appropriate send-off he deserves,” the fundraiser continues.

“All money raised will be given directly to the Allchin family to aid them in this process.”

In a statement, Qantaslink said they were “deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Harrison.”

“He was a much-loved member of the QantasLink team and our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues at this very difficult time,” a spokeswoman said.

It is understood Qantas has offered support to Harrison’s family and to all impacted team members, including access to counselling services

In a tearful tribute on Facebook, Mr Allchin’s sister Brittany said the pain “in our hearts is unbearable”.

“Our best mate, who we were completely and utterly blessed with in this life to be chosen as our brother,” she said.
