TOOWOOMBA'S former KR Castlemaine factory is now a pile of rubble as owners consider business opportunities for the site.

George Weston Foods will wait until the final path of the Toowoomba bypass has been settled before making any decisions about the land's future.

Property manager Neil Gabriel said crews would be onsite for another two months to finish the clearing process.

"It's a matter of getting it down, making it safe and then starting to think about where we go from here," he said.

"There are a variety of thoughts around it, but where that ends up we are not totally sure."

The bypass is expected to pass close by the Mort St site, making it a prime piece of commercial real estate.

Closer to the city centre, agents expect to announce the sale of the former Allied Mills complex within a fortnight.

"We've had a great expression of interest campaign with regards to offers," Colliers International director Markus Eames said.

"At this stage, we're dealing confidentially with all the parties and Allied Mills so an announcement is imminent."

Plans to convert the 1.8ha property into a trendy residential-commercial precinct were unveiled by Toowoomba Regional Council last year, including parkland, shopping plazas and "urban village developments".

Mr Eames could not confirm what kind of vision developers bidding for the property had in mind.
