A man who allegedly murdered his partner in Katherine is set to face court, with police confirming an additional charge has been laid on him. Latest.

Latest, October 2: A man has been charged with the murder of a young woman in Katherine.

On Wednesday afternoon, NT Police confirmed a 36-year-old man had been charged in relation to the death of a 22-year-old woman, who was found dead at O’Shea Tce, Katherine on Monday.

The man, understood to be the victim’s partner, has been in custody since Tuesday morning.

The alleged offender has also been charged with one count of aggravated assault for an alleged separate historic incident against the same woman.

The man will appear in Katherine Local Court on Thursday, October 3.

Woman dead after alleged domestic violence attack

Initial, October 1: A 22-year-old woman has died in Katherine after what police believe to be a domestic violence-related incident.

An NT Police spokesperson said cops and paramedics were called to the O’Shea Tce incident about 9.10pm Monday.

The spokesperson said St John NT members attempted to perform CPR on the woman but she was declared dead shortly after.

They said the woman’s 36-year-old male partner had been arrested and remained in custody as of 9am Tuesday.

The spokesperson said a crime scene had been established and remained active.

“Detectives are in the early stages of their investigation and urge anyone with information, particularly CCTV footage, to contact police on 131 444, quoting reference number P24270217,” they said.
