An Aussie pop sensation’s Uluru concert has gone into overtime, wowing the crowd for an extra 45 minutes in what two punters say was a “once-in-a-lifetime experience”.
Mr and Mrs Dwyer said Jess Mauboy’s Uluru concert on May 19 was the “absolute highlight” of their trip to the rock earlier in May.
“We can’t tell you how special we felt having Jessica Mauboy perform only meters from our table in such a beautiful environment with the stars for company,” they said.
“This truly was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
Ms Mauboy performed at the rock on May 19, with Voyages Indigenous Tourism – which oversees accommodation at Uluru – Imagine Holidays helping facilitate the gig.
Voyages chief executive Matt Cameron-Smith said while it was not the first time Ms Mauboy’s performed at the rock, “it was such a pleasure” to welcome her back.
“From her iconic hits to fresh new tracks and timeless covers, she had the whole crowd up dancing and it was another magical night under the stars at Uluru,” he said.
“While Jess was here, we were proud to share some of the deeper cultural experiences that make this place so special, including Sunrise Journeys, our new laser, light, and sound show that tells a modern story of connection to Country from a uniquely female perspective.
“Being able to offer her that connection to the spiritual heart of Australia was truly meaningful.”
Imagine Cruising events manager Andrea Heath said 120 people made it to the intimate concert, in what was originally supposed to be a 45 minute set.
“(It) turned into a full one and a half hours as Jess danced and sang with guests connecting personally to the performance,” she said.
