THE Department of Transport and Main Roads will partially close James St for two nights next month ahead of planned upgrades at East and West Creek culverts.
Geotechnical surveying will take place over two nights on James St (the Warrego Highway) where it meets East and West Creeks.
The single-lane closures will take place between 7pm and 5am on June 2-4, weather permitting.
These closures will allow TMR to undertake pavement testing to inform the project's design.
Some additional investigation works in the road corridor are expected from June 5-7, weather permitting.
Detours are not required as part of these works, with one night of works expected at each site.
Access to nearby businesses and residences will be maintained throughout the works.
These pre-construction works form part of the East and West Creek Culvert Upgrade projects, designed to improve flood immunity for the Toowoomba community.
These projects will be delivered under the $635 million Warrego Highway Upgrade Program, funded on an 80:20 split by the Federal and State governments.
"We thank you for your patience and understanding during the delivery of these important safety improvements and apologise for any inconvenience these works may cause," the department said in a statement.
