TOOWOOMBA'S racing champion Will Power had the need for speed at the Wellcamp Airport Community Open Day beating a Cessna Mustang Jet.
The unlikely drag race caught the attention of the massive crowds with the roar of the jet and V8 engines providing plenty of entertainment for rev heads.
The reigning Indy Car champion bounced back from a loss in the first of two races to split the honours with the Cessna Mustang Jet.
Mr Power said it was one of the most unusual races he had ever participated in but it was also one of the most entertaining.

"I didn't really know what to expect beforehand, however it was a heap of fun," Mr Power said.
"You could hear the jet engines coming from behind and then see it spool as it took off.
"After losing the first race I was pretty determined to win the second.
"It was definitely not something you get to do everyday and I think the crowd enjoyed the spectacle."
