THE region is invited to celebrate the upcoming opening of the Toowoomba Bypass at the community open day on Saturday, September 7.

It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the views and get up close to the engineering masterpiece, previously known as the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing, that has transformed the Toowoomba landscape.

The public is invited to walk a 2km section of the newly completed Toowoomba Bypass, between the Mort St interchange and the viaduct, before it opens to traffic.

The Toowoomba Bypass free community open day will open from 11am and runs through to 5pm.

Visitors will be able to walk to the viaduct enjoying a variety of community food and information stalls, as well as a selection of vintage cars from local clubs on display.

From there they can choose to experience the 800m viaduct, taking in the incredible outlook over the Lockyer Valley.

There is no parking at the event and all access is via free TransLink park 'n' ride buses.

All visitors must pre-register through Eventbrite.

Google TSRC open day or head to the Department of Transport and Main Roads Facebook page for more information.
