A WOMAN who suffered abdominal and shoulder injuries in a two-car crash north of Toowoomba was airlifted to hospital yesterday.
The crash between two cars and a trailer closed the New England Highway about 11km north of Crows Nest for two hours after the incident about 2.30pm.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews had to cut the roof off one of the vehicles to allow paramedics access to treat one of four people at the scene.
The Queensland Ambulance Service reported four people were injured in the collision which sent debris across the roadway.
Two people were taken to Toowoomba Hospital by ambulance, while a third declined transport from the scene.
One had suffered chest and abdominal injuries with the other reporting neck and abdominal injuries.
They were transported in a stable condition.
The RACQ LifeFlight helicopter was deployed to the scene shortly after the crash was reported to airlift a woman aged in her 50s.
Crews on arrival reported debris from the crash was strewn across the road, with the trailer involved in the collision appearing to have impaled a smaller white sedan.
LifeFlight's Critical Care Doctor and the QAS Flight Paramedic assessed a woman with abdominal injuries before airlifting her to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.
