TOOWOOMBA residents believe the Warrego Highway between Toowoomba and Oakey needs to be upgraded before more motorists lose their lives.
Cr Bill Cahill this week called for an alternative route between Toowoomba and Highfields.
However, Chronicle Facebook likers argued the 40km stretch of Warrego Hwy heading west of the city needed to addressed first.
Some called for it to become four lanes as industry expansion sparks an increase in heavy traffic using the highway.

We need a four lane highway between Oakey and Toowoomba first. That's got to be the most dangerous road around here," Grant Quadzilla said.
"The Warrego Highway between Toowoomba and Zimms Corner should be upgraded first it has triple the traffic and is a much more dangerous road than New England Highway to Highfields," Jay Neksa Ebert said.
"Road to Oakey and west is far more dangerous," Sue O'Brien said.
