A promising young Highton batter has produced a Bradman-like effort in junior cricket this season.
The Heat’s Cooper Hocking has hit 511 runs at an average of 102.2, including two centuries — his best effort being 105 off just 94 rocks against Barwon Heads in November.
Hocking is part of a select bunch, which includes Torquay’s Patrick Sullivan, Newtown & Chilwell’s Rex Suvoltos and Barrabool’s Henry Symes to have struck twin tons this junior season.
In all, Hocking, a former member of Geelong’s under-16 Dowling team, has also posted four half centuries to lead the run aggregate from Little River’s Kobe Wright (487 runs at 97.4).
Hocking, a member of the club’s special Junior Development Squad, has also performed well in senior cricket with the Heat, with two scores of 41 and 36 before Christmas.
He got further senior experience playing during the T20 competition back in December.
Meanwhile, with the ball, Jan Juc under-13s cricketer Jacob Falconer leads the bowling aggregate with 24 wickets at an average of 10.2, with the best figures of 6-3.
He is three wickets ahead of his nearest rival, Highton’s Henry Mayes with 21 wickets at 11.43.
