The global pandemic wasn’t enough to stop one of Toowoomba’s most unique festivals from hitting local stages as the Curious Arts Festival performers ready themselves for this weekend’s program.
Festival co-director, Ruth Atkinson, said the festival would be a re-imagined version of the postponed March event, using the large main theatre to ensure appropriate spacing between audience groups while continuing to offer plenty of opportunities for audiences to safely explore and experience curious performances and unexpected fun.
“Curious Arts Festival wants to encourage the people of the Toowoomba Region to get in touch with their curiosity, be a little adventurous and experience a taste of something new,” she said.
Here are five “can’t miss” moments from the festival:
‘Alexa, Turn the Lights On’
Emerging Queensland performer and Toowoomba local Jacob Watton will premiere his theatre/dance/technology production, Alexa, Turn the Lights On.
Mr Watton grew up in Toowoomba and is a sought-after artist, creator and choreographer who has toured work both nationally and internationally.
