THOUSANDS of residents have been invited to have their say about health and safety in the Toowoomba Region's largest safety survey.

THOUSANDS of residents have been invited to have their say about health and safety in the Toowoomba Region's largest safety survey.

The Safer Toowoomba Regional Partnerships group launched the survey yesterday at an event at the Toowoomba City Hall annex.

The survey asks locals what they think are the biggest issues relating to health and safety in the region.

STRP chair Cr Geoff McDonald said by participating, community members would help shape the region's future.

"From Yarraman to Clifton, Cecil Plains to Withcott, we want to give everyone in every corner of our region the opportunity to take part," he said.

Results from the survey will help prioritise and plan for future community health and safety activities.

"By investing around 10 minutes of your time and completing this survey, you'll be making an investment in the security of future generations," Cr McDonald said.

Queensland Police Service superintendent Mark Kelly said the survey would ultimately make the region a safer and healthier place to live.

"A survey on this scale will provide an opportunity for a more fact-based debate and evidence-based decision making into the future," he said.

Information will be collected from residents aged 18 years and over living in the Toowoomba Regional Council area about their perceptions of health and safety in the region.

Toowoomba Hospital executive director Shirley-Anne Gardiner said there was nothing as important as the health, safety and wellbeing of our community members.

"Many of the key drivers of health reside in our everyday living and working conditions," she said.

"This is why we are seeking input by the community to help us better understand and improve these conditions."

The survey is being conducted for the STRP by USQ masters students Sarah Green and Natalia Gradwell.

Submissions for the survey closes on May 20.
