His passion has been growing for years and now a new business owner hopes to help others create a garden they’re proud of.

James Feez, 29, has always loved to garden and looks back fondly on the moments spent working on his grandparents’ farm in the Burnett region.

While he was a uni student, the green thumb started an online blog, offering tips to gardeners and going under the pseudonym of The Smart Gardener.

But as his following grew, loved ones began to guess his identity.

Now after relocating to the garden city 12 months ago, the horticulturist has taken his passion to the next level, starting his own business and offering landscaping and traditional gardening maintenance or advice.

“People take a lot of pride in their gardens and it’s an amazing feeling to help someone build up their green space,” Mr Feez said.

“A lot of people love gardening but don’t know where to start, so I enjoy teaching and empowering them to do the work themselves too.”

After years of industry experience, Mr Feez said he’s excited to progress from tropical to perennial gardens.
