They, like most inner-city workers, were unsure where they would park while at work which of course is not only a security problem for these workers but a costly one as well.

There must be hundreds of small business owners and employees in the same boat and it is unfair that they have to bear a cost just so they can earn a living.

A multi-storey carpark exclusive for inner-city workers would easily solve the problem.

Council already owns several car parks within the CBD and it should only be a matter of building above some of those existing parks.

The benefits would be many where as there would be more parking space for shoppers which of course helps out the many small businesses operating in the CBD.

Workers could have a secure and safe parking place and the residents on the fringe of the CBD would no longer have their streets blocked by all day parkers.

Loading zones get freed up as do bus and taxi ranks. In winter many of these workers must be walking in the dark sometimes a long way to get to their cars and in this day and age that is not an ideal situation.

The carpark should be free or at worst a minimal payment and governed by a swipe card system that prevents any abuse or misuse.

Anyone who has ever driven around during working hours trying to get a park just to duck in somewhere for a minute knows it is nearly impossible. Surely a win-win situation for all concerned.
