A teen gang accused of robbing two young boys not far from a major Gold Coast shopping centre have avoided facing court.
The two victims were riding bikes along Oxley Drive, Biggera Waters near Harbour Town on November 6 when they were approached by four males about 6.15pm at the intersection of Brisbane Rd.
“It is alleged and altercation has occurred, and a number of items were stolen,” a Queensland Police Service spokesman said in a statement.
“The four offenders have then left the scene on foot.”
Following investigations police charged a 12-year-old Labrador boy, 14-year-old Parkwood boy and 13-year-old Biggera Waters boy with one count each of robbery in company.
They were each dealt with under the Youth Justice Act and won’t face criminal prosecution through a court.
The incident occurred prior to the introduction of new Adult Crime, Adult Time laws, meaning the accused teens would not have faced tougher penalties if they had been convicted by a court.
