A colourful new cafe with a backstory to match is bringing health and good food to the forefront of Southport dining.
Sitting at the corner of Como Cres, Cheek Cafe is the brainchild of Natalie Yiannakopoulos.
The former Sydney resident moved to the Gold Coast earlier this year – going from dishy to business owner within months.
“I was working here when it was Paris Corner Cafe Greek Taverna,” she said.
“It was run by an older Greek lady, I’m Greek myself, and I started working for her pretty much just to help out because she was running it by herself.
“Not long after I started she wanted to retire and sell the business, and she asked if I would be interested.”
From there Ms Yiannakopoulos said she began brainstorming a concept which tied together her personality, food values and the body.
“We really celebrate natural and naturally sourced foods, such as pasteurised eggs, grass-fed meats and no seed oils,” she said.
“We use grass-fed butters and olive oil and try to use as natural, locally grown produce as possible.”
Ms Yiannakopoulos said her business ethos was about nourishing bodies while also enjoying good food.
“It’s about eating things that our body understands how to use and comes from natural sources, but is still delicious,” she said.
“We tie in health with pleasure and wellness, while building a community.”
She said some of their signature menu items include their slow braised beef cheek benny with house made potato rosti, spicy hollandaise and poached eggs and their full waffle menu with dedicated waffle station.
