Police allegedly found drugs and a loaded gun in a car which was seen driving erratically on the Gold Coast, almost striking several vehicles.
Officers responded after receiving a report that the grey Land Rover had hit a curb and had a series of near misses with other vehicles on Monaco Street in Broadbeach Waters at about 3pm on Thursday.
The damaged car and the man driving it were found by police stopped in the middle of Savoy Drive a short time later.
Police said that after speaking with the man they conducted a roadside drug test and searched the vehicle, where they allegedly found the loaded gun in a backpack.
They said they also seized a quantity of drugs, including cocaine and methylamphetamine, along with a substantial amount of cash.
Video of the incident shows a child’s carseat in the vehicle.
The man has been charged with:
* Four counts of possessing dangerous drugs.
* Unlawful possession of a weapon.
* Possessing anything used in the commission of a crime.
* Possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under the Drugs Misuse Act.
* Offence in relation to unauthorised and prohibited explosives.
* Possessing utensils or pipes that have been used.
* Driving without due care and attention.
He was denied police bail and was due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on May 10.
