For the first time in the Bulletin’s Best of Gold Coast history, we have had a tie and these two childcare centres share why they have taken out the top spot.

After a week of intense voting, Harmony Early Education in Hope Island and Little Gems Childcare and Early Leaning in Helensvale both won the Bulletin’s best childcare centre competition.

Harmony Early Education directors Jasmine Facey, Hayley Baker and Cleone Stack said they were “thrilled” with the title.

“It’s a testament to our amazing educators and the connection we’ve built with our families,” they said.

The centre, part of the Queensland Government’s free kindy program, first opened their Hope Island location in 2021.

“Harmony has a holistic approach to early learning and development, which is informed by contemporary educational research coupled with an evidence-based curriculum,” Ms Facey said.

Helensvale’s Little Gems Childcare and Early Learning director Nicole Ormiston called the win a “huge honour”.

“As a family owned business it means the world to us that our families and community have shared their love of our service by voting for us,” she said. “This is what makes us so special and why we stand out from the rest.

“We are a down-to-earth service that genuinely loves and cares for our little people and their families.”

Ms Ormiston said she first opened Little Gems Childcare and Early Learning in 2018 to create a “tight-knit” community.

“Where educators cannot only support each child’s learning but also stay attuned to their emotional and social growth.

“This isn’t just childcare; this is a place where children grow, learn and develop in a community that feels like home.”
