A man has been hospitalised following an rollover on the Pacific Motorway on the northern Gold Coast which caused heavy delays.

The incident happened about 9.20am on Thursday while the car was travelling northbound just past the Yatala off-ramp (exit 41).

A Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) spokeswoman said paramedics assessed two occupants from the rolled vehicle. A man was taken by ambulance in a stable condition to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.

About 6km of heavy delays continued to cause headaches for peak hour commuters northbound at about 10am from Computer Rd back to Eggersdorf Rd in Ormeau. Southbound traffic was unaffected.

Paramedics believed the crash may have been the result of a medical episode.
