A woman has been cut from her car and a major Gold Coast Hinterland road remains closed following a serious head-on crash.

Emergency services were called to Beaudesert Nerang Rd near Clagiraba Rd shortly before 9am on Thursday after a Kia and Toyota collided.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said a woman in her 80s was trapped in her vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters. She was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Paramedics assessed another woman in her 20s but she wasn’t transported to hospital.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman confirmed Beaudesert Nerang Rd was closed to traffic in both directions for several hours as scenes of crime and the Forensic Crash Unit processed the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
