It may be hidden in the suburbs, but it hasn’t taken diners long to unearth a new secret garden style cafe at Robina.
Anja Ede and Jonathan Ede opened Harvest Foodhouse in December and it’s rapidly racking up five-star reviews.
The couple, who also own Cafe Alfons in Chevron Island, said they had been working on opening a cafe in their neighbourhood for quite some time.
“It was long hours in the lead up and now it’s just exciting to see everything come together,” Mr Ede said.
He said they hoped it would become the go-to venue for friends, family and strangers to meet over coffee.
He said the Harvest Feed, loaded with thick-cut maple bacon, rosti, house-made chorizo, baked beans, avocado, forest mushrooms, thick English sausage, eggs and rustic sourdough toast, had been the most popular menu item.
“We also have a modern twist on smashed avo, which includes a Byron Bay pretzel knot, lime dressing and whipped ricotta,” Mr Ede said.
A 14-hour cold brew iced latte and a “decadent” biscoff shake are winners on the refreshment list.
The venue, which can accommodate 100 people and has a secluded garden and full bar, has gone down well with locals so far.
Angela Zengoski left a glowing review and said the cafe had “quickly become her favourite”.
“The service here is absolutely top notch and the staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome,” she said.
“Everything about this cafe hits the mark.”
Kathryn Vennemann said she had been a regular at the owners’ Chevron Island cafe so she “had to try” Harvest Foodhouse.
“It was very yummy. Looking forward to morning walks to the new favourite gem.”
