A man has been arrested after he allegedly chased a friend with a knife down a busy Gold Coast street.

Emergency services were called to a house on Surfers Paradise’s Aubrey Street at 5.50pm on Sunday after reports of a disturbance.

Act Supt Mooney said officers found the offender had cut himself on his finger and was still “very agitated”.

He said officers had to use a taser to arrest the man before he was put into the back of an ambulance and was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

The man was charged with one count each of possession of a knife in a public place, commit public nuisance and obstruct police officer.

He is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on June 16.
