A woman has been hospitalised following an assault by an unknown man in a Helensvale shopping complex carpark.
Police were called an address off Discovery Drive about 6pm on Sunday following reports of a disturbance inside a business.
“Upon arrival, police spoke with a business owner who alleged three people had entered his store and a verbal altercation occurred, before the group left the store,” a Queensland Police Service (QPS) spokesman told the Bulletin.
“While speaking with the business owner, the group approached police and alleged they had been assaulted by an unknown male while in the car park.
“The unknown male left the scene in a white van prior to police arriving.”
A Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) spokeswoman said paramedics attended and assessed a female in her 20s for injuries. She was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition as a precaution with reported head pain.
Two other men, aged in their 20s, spoke with police at the scene.
What sparked the confrontation and assault is unclear. Investigators are appealing for witnesses, and nearby residents with CCTV, or anyone with dashcam vision, to contact police.
