A Gold Coast GP accused of sexual assault and stalking has been banned by the health watchdog from treating female patients or working with female practice staff.
A Gold Coast GP accused of sexual assault and stalking has been banned from treating female patients or working with female practice staff, other than his wife.
Foad Khademi who was last known to be practising from Benowa, was the target of immediate registration action by the state’s health watchdog effective from October 3, an announcement states.
He is charged with one count of sexual assault alleged to have occurred on March 14, and one count of stalking alleged to have occurred between October 1, 2024 and March 15 this year.
The Health Ombudsman has banned Dr Khademi from contact with female patients and staff, and states that he must take all reasonable steps to ensure female patients are told at the time of wanting to book an appointment with the practitioner that they cannot unless they agree to a telehealth appointment.
Dr Khademi’s registration had been suspended from April 7 until October 3, but this suspension was replaced with the strict ban after the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal decided the suspension should be substituted with the conditions.
According to the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency, Dr Khademi completed his medical degree at the University of New South Wales in 1991.
He was first registered in the profession in 1991.
He has been working at the Ashben Medical Centre Benowa but it is not known if this remains his place of work.
The regulator did not reveal details on why it has taken action against him.
The immediate registration action is a temporary measure taken by the regulator and it can only be removed by the health ombudsman or by application to the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
