Youths set deodorant cans alight on Newcomb school oval
Two youths have sparked a police investigation after allegedly setting deodorant cans alight on a Newcomb school oval.
Police have launched an investigation after two youths allegedly set fire to deodorant cans on a Newcomb school oval before fleeing the scene.
It’s understood emergency services were called to reports of an explosion at Newcomb Secondary College on Bellarine Highway just before 10am on Tuesday.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said officers were told that two youths were seen acting suspicious on the oval of a school ground.
“It is believed three cans of deodorant were set alight before the youths fled,” she said.
“There were no reports of damage or injuries.
“The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
A Department of Education spokesman said the safety of staff and students is our top priority.
“No students or staff were involved in or impacted by this morning’s incident and school operations continued as normal,” he said.
