The victim of a horror crash on a rural Surf Coast road has been identified as a much loved father and respected psychologist.
Geelong professional and Geelong Advertiser columnist Chris Mackey was tragically killed when his car slammed into a tree on Forest Rd in Bellbrae about 11.30am on Saturday.
Mr Mackey, who is internationally renowned for his work in the psychology field, died at the scene.
The published author also ran a successful podcast focusing on mens health.
The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be established and the investigation remains ongoing.
EARLIER: It comes after two people were taken to hospital after a truck and car collided on a major Geelong road less than an hour earlier.
Emergency services were called to the Geelong Ring Road near Lara about 10.50am after reports a car and a truck had collided.
Police confirmed two people have been hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries.
One southbound lane has been closed with drivers warned to expect delays.
