There is no denying Bailey Smith is hot property right now.
The Cats forked out nearly $1m to lure the star recruit from Whitten Oval to Kardinia Park, where he’s starring on the field and attracting plenty of attention off it.
Now – for almost $500 – fans can have their own slice of the star in a meet and greet that organisers says is “more than a one-dimensional football show”.
The jury may still be out on if Smith has passed the pub test since donning the hoops but he isn’t shying away from the spotlight.
The Bailey Smith Experience – an all ages interactive show run by event organiser Entertainment By Vin – will take place at 7pm on Wednesday at The Sphinx Hotel.
Managing director Vin Handley said the “unscripted” nature of the event would bring out
never-before-heard stories.
“Fans love that they still have a place to come … and find out who they are and what makes them tick away from the glaring lights and cameras,” he said.
“These shows aren’t endorsed or reflect the club or AFL’s view so it’s truly one spot fans can come and get an authentic look at the player.”
A merchandise package listed at $470 will include a fan photo with Smith and a signed guernsey.
A photo and signed footy costs $365, while basic entry – with no pictures or merchandise – is $50 for adults and $30 for those aged 16 and under.
The option to attend the event and get a photo, priced at $105, is sold out.
There are a limited number of tickets left for the 230 people capacity show.
Smith won’t be the only Geelong personality taking centre stage at The Sphinx this week.
On Tuesday night, controversial media personality Sam Newman is taking his Zero Filter Tour back to his hometown for one night only.
Tickets for the adults-only event start at $50, but like The Bailey Smith Experience, there is a $470 option for a photo and signed guernsey.
In February, Newman copped heavy criticism for inviting known neo-Nazis onto his podcast You Cannot Be Serious, with chairman of the Anti-Defamation Commission Dvir Abramovich calling on Geelong and the AFL to review Newman’s club legend and Hall of Fame status.
The Sphinx Hotel is on Thompson Rd in North Geelong.
