Jaycar Geelong has risen from the ashes “like a phoenix” at a new location after its store burnt down earlier this year.
The electronics store will reopen in a new location at 413 Moorabool St, South Geelong on Friday after its Mercer St shop was destroyed in an electrical fire on February 28.
Regional Victoria area manager Mark Clinch said after the setback of the “unfortunate accident”, new opportunities had come up for the business.
“It’s like the phoenix rising from the ashes,” he said.
“I think it’ll be a good venture into the future for Jaycar Geelong – we’ve been around for over 20 years.”
The first 150 customers through the door of the new store from Friday will receive a gift bag.
Mr Clinch, who is “over the moon” about coming back, said community sentiment was positive.
“I was standing out the front of the (new) shop yesterday afternoon and a lot of cars were stopping out the front, putting their windows down, and asking when we are opening,” he said.
Mr Clinch said the business made a concerted effort to retain all its staff to ensure their expertise remained in the area.
“We didn’t want to lose the knowledge we had in store,” he said.
