Son of murdered Geelong dad Paul Grapsas born two months after is shocking death

The wife of slain Geelong dad Paul Grapsas has welcomed their new “little man of the house” after the arrival of a beautiful baby boy just months after his callous murder.

The wife of slain Geelong dad Paul Grapsas has welcomed a new “little man of the house” with the arrival of a baby boy.

Jessica Grapsas said she was beaming with pride at the safe delivery of Alexander Paul Grapsas, on Monday morning.

Her 40-year-old husband was allegedly murdered in cold blood as he walked his dog near the Geelong waterfront on Western Beach Rd on September 15.

Mrs Grapsas was pregnant with the couple’s third child at the time of her husband’s death.

She said the meaning of her newborn son’s name was “defender of men” and “humble”.

“He will be this for our family; our little man of the house, standing for his proud daddy in humility and strength just like Paul Grapsas did,” she said.

The baby joy is a bittersweet early Christmas gift for the much loved family who are still reeling from the death of a man universally admired by all that knew him.

Mrs Grapsas said she opted to have an induction so her son would not share his father’s December 22 birthday.

“As Paul’s birthday is on the 22nd December, I decided to have an induction to give the child its own day not overshadowed by the deep loss of them coming to the world without their father present,” she said.

Mrs Grapsas, who has two daughters Matilda and Abigail, said she was recovering well and using the time to “process the joy and grief of this beautiful time.”

Her new “super cute and cuddly” son weighed 3.5kg.

“The girls are super excited to be big sisters to a baby brother,” she said.

Mrs Grapsas said she felt she had been “carrying a part of (Mr Grapsas)” during her pregnancy.

“As the birth was approaching I felt the grief and the joy that this would soon end,” she said.

“I would be bringing the last of him into this world but he will never be within me again.

“I miss Paul so much beyond words.

“Things have been so hectic it has been difficult to focus at all on the baby.”

Mrs Grapsas said she and Alexander would be released from hospital in time to spend Christmas at home with the girls.
