A fire was reported at the Cox Road property about 9.35pm on Tuesday, with emergency services arriving to find the unit alight.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the fire was extinguished and no one was inside the property at the time of the blaze.

Neighbour Craig Schmidt, who’s unit is attached to the building where the fire broke out, said he was lucky the first hadn’t damaged his home.

“I could see it from my window,” he said.

“Lucky no one was inside.”

Ms Schmidt said it wasn’t the first time this had happened in the small quite court, with a fire in one of the other units about a month ago.

A crime scene was established at the unit.

The spokeswoman said the cause of the fire was being investigated this morning.

“A crime scene has been established and an arson chemist will attend the property in the morning,” she said.

Anyone with information on the fire or with CCTV footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

More to come.
