IRONMAN 70.3 Geelong has wrapped up, with Belgium-born Jelle Geens and claiming the men’s professional title and Australian Olympian Natalie Van Coevorden taking out the women’s.
Geens’s win comes after he was crowned IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion in New Zealand last December, crossing the line first in 3:33:23, taking home the maximum 2500 IRONMAN Pro Series points on his way to winning the 2025 IRONMAN Pro Series.
He was 45 seconds clear of Jake Birtwhistle who took out second, with New Zealand’s Tayler Reid following in third.
It was Van Coevorden’s first IRONMAN 70.3 race win, at 4:05:58.
The Australian Olympian finished less than 30 seconds clear of New Zealand’s Hannah Berry, with Melbourne’s Grace Thek third.
“I’m pretty ecstatic to be honest, you’re not going to hold up the banner too many times in your career and holding up an IRONMAN 70.3 one … is really special, everything played out how I wanted it to today and it couldn’t have gone any more perfectly to be honest,” Van Coevorden said.
