Federal Mills businesses were left without power on Tuesday afternoon after a truck struck a power pole.
The incident occurred on the bend of McLeod Street, which wraps around the precinct, about 1.30pm.
Police and paramedics were on scene, however no emergency treatment or transport was required.
Pictures from the scene showed the damaged powerpole at a significant angle.
Dervilla McGowan who owns Anther, a distillery based out of the precinct, said her store had a power brief outage for about 10 seconds, before the whole of the business park was left without power.
“The whole site of Federal Mills has been shut down because of the accident,” Ms McGowan said.
“We’re able to hotspot (our payment systems) from our side, so we’re actually pretty lucky, it hasn’t been a massive issue for us.
1915, a nearby restaurant, had to get inventive to stay open, taking down phone numbers and emails to sort out payments.
Ms McGowan said the timing of the incident, occurring after the afternoon rush, was “lucky” for businesses.
“If people had’ve been coming in for drinks we’d be stuffed, we wouldn’t have a dishwasher, we wouldn’t have any way of servicing anyone,” She said.
“There was a lull.”
According to Powercor’s website, the outage was expected to be fixed by 3pm on Tuesday, however the outage remained at 3.30pm.
