Police are asking for help to solve a hit and run involving a seven-year-old child.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said it was understood an E-bike rider had collided with a young boy on the footpath of Princes Highway, Norlane at on Thursday afternoon about 4.25pm.

“The female rode away from the scene without providing her identity or rendering assistance to the child,” police said.

The child sustained a broken leg.

Police were told the female rider fell off the bike, before fleeing the scene.

Police said the driver was described as a young female around 155cm tall, with dark wavy hair and was last seen riding south towards Sparks Road Norlane.

The E-bike was described as dark coloured.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said paramedics were called to the collision and transported the child to Geelong University Hospital in a stable condition with a lower body injury.

Police urged anyone with information to contact Geelong Police Station or crime stoppers.
